  • Maintenance Technician

    Job purpose

    The position of the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshoot/resolve equipment issues, and participate in improvement projects. This person must be action oriented and responsive to his/her internal customers. Ability to organize and multi-task is essential.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Perform and record completion of preventative maintenance items
    • Manufacture/assemble tooling and fixtures
    • Disassemble and rebuild equipment as assigned
    • Respond quickly to line issues. Resolve and make recommendations to eliminate reoccurrences.
    • Complete work orders as assigned
    • Initiate work orders for process improvements or machine reliability 
    • Able to work outside of scheduled hours to complete tasks/projects.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Qualifications include:

    • Associates degree or certificate in Industrial Mechanics preferred or equivalent experience
    • Be proficient in the use of Powered Industrial Trucks.
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Electrical aptitude
    • PLC troubleshooting experience
    • Fabrication and welding experience

    Working conditions

    80% Indoors, 20% Outdoors

    Physical requirements

    • This position must stand for 4-6 hours.

  • Forklift Operator/Material Handler

    Job purpose

    The position of Lumber Puller is to pull raw lumber for the daily production. This position needs to have a thorough understanding of lumber grading and daily run lists. The position is very critical in keeping the line running. This person must be able to multi-task and work ahead to achieve the overall goals for the day.

     Duties and responsibilities 

    • Stage and pull wood as needed according to the production sheets and Timber Technologies’ specifications.
    • Unwrap and de-staple units of white wood to stock for production.
    • Keep yard clean, picking up skids, banding, stickers and paper.
    • Keep T shed stocked with all lengths of wood.
    • Keep green shed organized and clean.
    • Cut number two lumber into usable lengths.
    • Unload trucks when they arrive. Document any damage and ensure the goods match the paperwork before signing for it
    • Store received materials in the proper location
    • Moisture check material during picking. Sticker units of material that exceed allowable moisture content
    • Monitor inventory levels and inform the Plant Manager/Production Supervisor of low inventory levels
    • Package/bundle finished goods as they are run through quality daily as needed
    • Load outbound trucks as required:
      • Stage customer orders before the truck arrives to ensure completeness and accuracy
      • Develop a load plan to ensure the proper loading of trucks according to the amount of product and the lengths of the product to be loaded.
      • Load trucks per plan and ensure complete accuracy to the Bill of Lading (BOL)
      • Responsible to keep assigned forklift clean and organized. Schedule PM’s with maintenance for times with the least impact on daily activities
      • Keep the yard clean and organized
      • Other duties as assigned

     Qualifications

     Qualifications include:

    • High School or GED Diploma
    • Read and comprehend the daily production sheets, customer orders, BOL,
    • The ability to multi-task
    • Lumber Grading certification
    • Understanding of DOT regulations for weight limits
    • Use of measurement tools (tape measure)
    • Be proficient in the use of Powered Industrial Trucks.
    • Knowledge of basic math
    • Able to work with little to no supervision

    Working conditions

     Outdoors

     Physical requirements 

    • This position must stand for 8-10 hours.
    • Able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Able to work above head.
    • Reach, stoop, squat.
    • Able to climb/descend in to/from Forklift repeatedly

  • Stacker Operator

    Job purpose

    The position of the Stacker Operator is to collate and glue plies for laminated columns and beams per the production sheet and ensure quality products are made. This position requires technical understanding of the equipment and theory of operation. This person is instrumental in meeting the daily production and quality goals.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Responsible for the daily equipment start up and shut down
    • Responsible that operator care and changeovers are done in a timely and complete manner (Guide bars, glue head, roller, wash tote, glue screen)
    • Daily glue calibration and cleaning of the glue machine
    • Ensure that the species and configuration are correct per the run sheet
    • Ensure checks are being performed (finger joint temp, moisture content, ply thickness, glue spread, and beam length). Document as required
    • Confirm that the flying saw is operating properly
    • Ensure that the plies are being properly planed
    • Ensure that the boards are stacking properly
    • Following the run list, ensure the lamination count, the glue start/stop, and glue spread are correct. Monitor during run.
    • Responsible to run the jet printer and daily maintenance of it
    • Understand upstream and downstream equipment/processes
    • Keep area clean and free from debris. Maintain the washroom in a clean and organized fashion
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications 

    Qualifications include:

    • High School or GED Diploma
    • Read and comprehend the daily production sheets
    • The ability to multi-task
    • Lumber grading understanding
    • Understanding of the mechanical and electrical aspects of the Stacker
    • Use of measurement tools (tape measure, infrared thermometer, caliper)
    • Be proficient in the use of Powered Industrial Trucks.
    • Knowledge of basic math
    • Able to work with little to no supervision

    Working conditions

    Majority of this work is indoors. However, occasionally this position might have to do outside work when needed.

     Physical requirements

    • This position must stand for 8-10 hours.
    • Able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Able to work above head.
    • Reach, stoop, squat.
